Origin: The Americas and parts of the Caribbean
Ideal conditions: Prefers bright, filtered light. Thrives in well draining, peat/bark based soil. Fertilize sparingly using 1/4 strength fertilizer every month during growing season. Humidity is welcome.
Ease of care: Difficult but worth it
Notes: This jungle-esk, exotic plant has glossy deep purple-black blooms that last around 2 months. Once blooms dies, trim to soil. During winter, water less frequently. Re-pot every 2-3 seasons.
According to NASA, the Anthurium Black Beauty is incredibly effective at removing formaldehyde, ammonia, toluene and xylene from the air.
